MEET THE
FOUNDER
NIMISHA NAIR
Filmmaker & Founder, Smallfolks Productions
Born and raised in Kochi, Nimisha spent years travelling the world studying filmmaking and storytelling, working across formats, cultures, and scales of production.
After a period of freelancing, she started Smallfolks with the conviction that that world-class content shouldn't be gated behind budgets, old-boy networks, or the kind of industry culture that makes people feel like they need permission to create.
Launched under her family’s umbrella of Stallion Group, a studio and production house that leads with craft, embraces structure, runs on collaboration, and treats every project, big or small, with the same seriousness of intent.
Smallfolks conceptualises, directs, photographs, and edits work spanning branded films, campaigns, editorial, and digital content. The approach is practical, aesthetic-first, and deeply relational, the belief that the best work comes out of genuine connection and meaningful relationships.
“Every project starts with a relationship”
We take the time to understand what a brand is trying to say, and then we find the most honest, beautiful way to say it.
Our story
Smallfolks started with a simple refusal: we don't ask permission. We just make it.
A woman-led studio in Kochi, built on tight collaboration, strong instincts, and the belief that every client is also a collaborator. We bring concept, execution, and the edit all under one roof, within budget, thriving within constraints.
Feminist by default. Not a badge. A way of working - safe, non-condescending, growth-oriented. We actively work with women-led and women-owned brands.
